Morbid Curiosity

Well,
I really enjoyed the morbid curiosity exhibit. I have always enjoyed going to museums but, until now, I never really soaked up the emotion involved with art. This exhibit was awesome. I’ve always been both fascinated and completely petrified of death. I didn’t have a favorite artist or piece although one that really stood out was a leather jacket covered in art and text. It was done sometime in the 1970’s and it screamed anti-war. This was partially due to the “anti-war” text. This work stood out from the rest because it wasn’t strictly grotesque. I felt completely immersed with it because it encapsulated that time period. The pictures of bombs and death (although there wasn’t much violence) insinuated the fact that this authour was prepared to die for his country. He was prepared to die for peace which in its own is of course ironic. He was prepared to literally die for what he believed was right. Maybe he would have sacrificed the many thousands of deaths from the war. When I think of art, I think of emotion and this piece screamed emotion. Although there were many other morbid pieces, this one really did stick with me. I wish that I felt as strongly as he did in terms of my country. I also am not prepared to die in terms of this. He truly seemed like he would have. Death Is love. He loves his country therefore he would die for it. Maybe I’m rambling on now but I really thought this was a great piece.
